What do you do when you’re at the end of your rope? If you’re Lori N., you try to sell your soul on eBay.
The New Mexico woman has listed her soul with a starting bid of $2,000 – but there are no offers yet.
Her auction has gotten a lot of hits, though, and that’s encouraging to Lori.
Apparently, she was a passenger in a car that was hit by a drunk driver in 2007. Lori wound up in a coma for three weeks and woke up suffering from the after-effects of a stroke, a broken pelvis, a broken hip, leg, collarbone, sternum, ribs, and a collapsed lung. She also lost a breast.
Lori used to be a freelance writer, although she can’t write much these day. She makes ends meet via part-time inventory work and making hand-crafted jewelry. Lori says she figures, since her body isn’t much use to anyone, she might as well try to sell her soul.
“What I’m gonna deliver is the opportunity for someone to save my soul,” Lori said. “They can save it through prayer, they can save it through conversion. They’re also gonna get a certificate detailing the white and black marks on my soul.”
Lori will be the first to admit that selling her soul on eBay is sort of a cry for help.
“I guess you could say that. I’m at the point now, I’m tired. I don’t feel good. I’m near the end of my rope. I really am.”
Lori knows her ad may offend some people, but she’s really just hoping to make contact with someone on a deeper level.
What do you think? Would you buy someone’s soul for $2,000?
