A new Christmas video produced by a young Canadian musician is drumming up lots of attention on the internet.
Sean Quigley, the high school student who plays all instruments in his video for “Little Drummer Boy”, says he did it just to honor the birth of Jesus some 2,000 years ago.
“I guess it comes back to the story of the song – just a drummer boy who goes to find Jesus, and has absolutely nothing to give him,” said Quigley, 16.
“He plays the drum for Jesus, and that makes him so happy. And that’s me. That’s why I’m doing it.”
The video, which was shot and edited by Quigley and posted to YouTube on Thursday, has several of his friends from school (and even his sister) appearing at various points, holding up signs that say, “Merry Christmas”, in several different languages.
When recording the song in his the basement of his house, Quigley not only sang and played the drums, but played all the other instruments as well.
“My dad was a drummer, so he got me into that early,” he said of learning to play the drums.
“Then I just sort of expanded my music in general, learning different instruments. A lot was self-taught. There were a few formal lessons, as well.”
