Sacha Baron Cohen (A.K.A. “Borat” and “Bruno”) has been sued by Richelle Olson, a bingo hall worker. The lawsuit involves a 2007 charity bingo incident where, while “in character” as Bruno, Cohen assaulted her.
The suit claims Sacha Baron Cohen used “vulgar and offensive language” while he was working the bingo event. Olson then attempted to take the microphone away from him, when a “physical struggle ensued.” Richelle Olson says she was “offensively touched, pushed and battered” causing her to fall to the ground.
Three camera men then stormed onto the stage “where defendants attacked [her] for a period of one to five minutes to intentionally create a dramatic emotional response … while [they] recorded her humiliation and embarrassment,” the suit alleges.
Olson says she then headed into a back room where she became so emotional that she slipped, fell and hit her head on the concrete floor, resulting in minor brain damage. She is now confined to a wheelchair.
Does this sound a bit fishy to anyone else? Why is this just coming to light 2 years after the fact? Could event have been staged as well?
Either way, beating up little old bingo hall ladies? Low blow.
