Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, who starred in “The Proposal” and will be appearing in the upcoming movie “Green Lantern”, has been named People magazine’s “sexiest man alive”.
This marks the first time that Reynolds, who is 34 years old, has made the list in the 25-year history of the annual list from People.
“You just have to go with the flow,” Reynolds says of his new moniker. “This gives my family entry into teasing me for the rest of my life.”
Reynolds is married to actress and GQ’s Babe of the Year, Scarlett Johansson. The couple married in a secret ceremony in Canada in 2008. They started dating a year previously, just after Reynolds split from then fiancee, singer Alanis Morissette.

“Now it’s going to be, ‘Sexiest man, take out the garbage.’ That does sound better,” Reynolds said. “The most difficult part is going to be organically working this title into a conversation with random strangers.”
Reynolds started acting while he was a teenage in 1990. He has appeared in “The Amityville Horror” and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine“. It was when he starred opposite Sandra Bullock in “The Proposal” that his career really started gaining momentum.
He also portrayed a contractor in Iraq who is buried alive in the indie film “Buried” earlier this year. Reynolds will next hit the big screen as the main character in “Green Lantern”, which is set to be released in June 2011.
