After a championship high school football game, the winning coach and several other people were mowed down by a runaway, unmanned cart during a post-game interview around the 50-yard line at Cowboys Stadium in Texas.
Spring Dekaney head coach Willie Amendola was doing an interview near midfield following his team’s 34-14 win in the Texas 5A Division II final when the cart plowed into several people near midfield.
Many people were knocked to the ground and Amendola was tossed into the passenger’s seat. He tried unsuccessfully to regain control of the vehicle before falling to the turf about 25 yards from the spot of the foul.
A field worker eventually jumped into the cart and brought it to a stop.
