What's all the Ruckus about, you ask? Ruckus is gone.
Ruckus was a popular online music service geared towards the college audience. It allowed students to stream an unlimited amount of music.
The service offered legal alternatives to the pirating tactics being practiced on many campuses. Initially, Ruckus began as a subscription-based service. Later, it became supported by advertising and partnerships with several major colleges.
Ruckus was available to all college students who had a valid .edu e-mail address.
The Ruckus blog is still up and running - for now - but as of 5PM EST today, the main website was shut down.
One of their biggest competitors, Fast MP3, is already seeing a huge surge in new sign-ups.
It's nice to see you again! Thanks for reading Blippitt. What do you think of this story? Be sure to leave a comment below.
