Cameron Reagan, grandson of former President Ronald Reagan, was arrested on Thursday for obstructing an officer who came to his home after he unknowingly set off a silent alarm.
Cameron, 31, was then taken into custody in L.A.
His father, Michael Reagan, confirmed that his son accidentally tripped the alarm.
“It goes directly to the police station,” he said. “They surround the house with police cars because of who we are.”
Michael said his son panicked because he didn’t realize what had happened.
“There was a lot of misunderstanding at 1 a.m.,” he said.
Apparently, when police attempted to stop Cameron Reagan from leaving, he was uncooperative and belligerent. Officers used force to subdue him before arresting him. He was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman for former first lady Nancy Reagan, said the family had no comment.
