Stand-up comedian Robert Schimmel, who was frequently a guest on Howard Stern‘s Sirius XM radio show, is dead after suffering serious injuries in a car crash. He was 60 years old
Howard Bragman, Schimmel’s spokesman, says the comic died on Friday night in a hospital is Phoenix, Arizona.
On Thursday, Schimmel was a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by his daughter Aliyah Schimmel, who is 19 years old.
Apparently, the vehicle she was driving rolled to the side of the freeway after Aliyah swerved to avoid hitting another car. Bragman says she is hospitalized and is currently listed in stable condition.
Robert Schimmel resided in Scottsdale, Arizona and was often a guest on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and also on Stern’s show. His 2008 book, “Cancer on $5 a Day“, chronicled his fight with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
