“Russian Roulette,” the debut single off of Rihanna‘s upcoming “Rated R” album, hit the airwaves on Tuesday morning at about 11:23 a.m. EDT on the official RihannaNow Website. It will also be available in the official Rihanna store on Amazon.
The track, which Ne-Yo wrote and produced, describes Rihanna in a volatile relationship and protecting a dangerous boyfriend. That fact is significant as “Russian Roulette” marks Rihanna’s return to the music scene, four months after her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, was sentenced to 180 days of community service for beating her prior to the 2009 Grammy Awards back in February.
The end of the track features a mysterious gunshot. The song seems to highlight Rihanna’s new-found interest in guns. She had a tiny gun tattooed on her side back in March of this year.
“Rated R” is the follow-up to 2007’s multi-platinum “Good Girl Gone Bad.” It will become available on November 23rd, when it will face competition from Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Monster” (pre-order here), Adam Lambert’s “For Your Entertainment” and Britney Spears’ “The Singles Collection” (pre-order here).
It should be a good battle for the top of the charts! Listen and buy “Russian Roulette” below…
