Rihanna has been advised to cover herself up for her New Year’s Eve concert in Abu Dhabi.
The singer, 21, has been told that she needs to dress more “conservatively” for her show at the Emirates Palace. She’s being paid $500,000 for the gig.
One source was quoted as saying,
“Rihanna is tearing her hair out over what to do – she wanted to put on her most eccentric and provocative show yet. A huge part of her show is her sexy stage gear. But the dress code in Abu Dhabi does not encourage excessively revealing outfits. The organisers are getting hot under the collar about possible wardrobe choices.”
Rihanna is now said to be reworking her show with more acceptable outfits that won’t offend residents in the city in the United Arab Emirates, mainly a Muslim country.
This is not the first time this has happened to an American singer. Earlier in the year, Beyonce Knowles was also told to tone down her outfits for her show in Malaysia in October. That show wound up being cancelled.
In 2007, Gwen Stefani also had to cover up for her show in Malaysia.
