Is the end near for Twitter? It is if you believe Twitpocalypse.com.
The site predicts that something catastrophic will occur on June 13th. Twipocalypse predicts that Twitter will be meet with disaster at 5:05am ET. At that time, all 3rd-party apps will crash, according to the site.
From the website:
“The Twitpocalypse is similar to the Y2K bug. Very soon the unique identifier associated to each tweet will exceed 2,147,483,647.
For some of your favorite third-party Twitter services not designed to handle such a case, the sequence will suddenly turn into negative numbers. At this point, they are very likely to malfunction or crash.”
Twitpocalypse has been kind enough to provide us with a counter leading up to the exact moment that Twitter will meet its demise.
Will it really happen? We don’t know. It seems unlikely, but I guess you’ll have to check back after June 13th…and cross your fingers.
