Register.com Down Due to Massive DDOS Attack

While we admit that our earlier story about VeriSign was an April Fools joke, this one is not.

So the Conficker worm has been pretty harmless so far, you say?  Don't speak too soon.

Twitter users are frantic about the fact that Register.com's DNS servers are down due to a massive DDOS attack.

If you're wondering why half the internet has suddenly gone dark, this could be the cause.

UPDATE: Some users are now reporting that Register.com is back up, but with intermittent response from their DNS servers.
