Axl Rose finally gets his act together and releases the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" CD that no one cares about any more, and then he goes and gets sued over it. Fail.
And I'm one of their biggest fans (well, WAS before the 17-year wait for "Chinese Democracy").
Two independent record labels have sued Guns N' Roses for $1 million, claiming they used pieces of two songs by some German guy on "Democracy".
Guns N' Roses and Interscope-Geffen are being sued by the British label Independiente and Domino Recording Company, who have licensing rights to songs by German electronic musician Ulrich Schnauss.
The lawsuit claims that Axl and the gang portions of two of Schnauss' songs, "Wherever You Are" and "A Strangely Isolated Place", on the GNR track "Riad N' the Bedouins".
The lawsuit, which was filed on Friday, seeks $1 million in damages. Geffen hasn't commented on the suit yet.
"Chinese Democracy" was released last November and resulted in lackluster sales.
