If you were wondering what the heck Rangers broadcaster Dave Barnett was talking about the other night, you’re not alone.
On Monday night, the Texas play-by-play man seemed to come totally unglued during a break in the action as the Rangers played the San Diego Padres.
The veteran broadcaster said that the go-ahead run was “at fifth” and proceeded to ramble on about a “botched robbery” and a “henchman.”
As soon as the crew knew that something was wrong, they cut his microphone off for a few moments.
He later returned to finish calling the game.
On Tuesday, Dave Barnett spoke to a local radio station and told them he had suffered from a migraine.
The incident has reminded many of Serene Branson’s bizarre 2010 on-air meltdown in which she spontaneously broke out in gibberish as she was doing a live news report. She too suffered from a migraine, which came as a relief to many who thought she may have suffered a stroke.
The Rangers, meanwhile, have announced that Barnett will miss the final two games of the series in San Diego to undergo further medical testing.
