An extremely rare Prickly Shark was captured on Wednesday off the coast of California.
This is only the second time one of the rare breeds of shark has been held in captivity and the very first time it has ever been exhibited.
The Prickly Shark was held at Monteray Bay Aquarium for about three hours before being released due to the fact that it was having trouble adapting to the wasn’t doing well in the tank.
The 4-foot long shark has very thorny skin and one extra dorsal fin near the base of it’s tail. It is primarily found mostly in submarine canyons and overfishing has put the species at risk.
The one found yeseterday was discovered at 3,000 feet.
