Well, here’s something to make a pet owner proud. Yoda, a 14-year-old Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix, has been named the World’s Ugliest Dog.
He won the title on Friday night at the 23rd annual contest at the Sonoma Marin Fair in Northern California.
The dog’s owner, Terry Schumacher, says her 2-pound dog has come a long way since she found her abandoned behind an old apartment building.
Schumacher says that, at first, she thought Yoda was a rat.
Yoda takes the title from last year’s winner, a one-eyed Chihuahua named Princess Abby.
A pedigree Chinese crested won the “honor” back in 2008 and another Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix was the ugliest the year before that.
The winner’s owner usually gets a check for $1,000 as a prize.
