Pregnant with 9 BabiesIt’s not true.  Granted, it sounds pretty impressive, but it’s just not true.

Rumors that a Mexican woman is pregnant with 9 babies have been debunked, according to El Diario de Coahuila, the local newspaper in the town in which the woman resides.

Mexican TV stations aired interviews with Karla Vanessa Perez of Coahuila, which borders Texas, where she claimed that her fertility treatments had led to an amazing multiple pregnancy – and also that she already had triplets.

“It’s too early to think about the babies’ names, first I hope that everything goes well, the pregnancy has been very normal so far, now I just have an internal injury from the c-section from the triplets, but we are confident that they will be born well,” she said.

When reporters dug a little deeper, however, they found out she’s not even pregnant.

Her mother, Francisca Castaneda, said that Perez has three children (ages 15, 12, and 4) and that after she had the last one, she had a procedure to keep her from getting pregnant again.

A reporter from Telemundo also got in touch with the office of Mexico’s Secretary of Health, which confirmed that the woman isn’t pregnant at all.  Initially, the office had reached out to her to offer to assist.

Jose Salvador Gallegos Mata, a member of the Mexican Society of Gynecology and Urology, told the paper that someone who would make claims like that “needs to urgently say ‘I’m here. Please look at me, I exist.’” He added, “That woman needs urgent psychological treatment.”
