Police in Texas are in some hot water after a video hit the web of officers tasering a student that was already pinned to the ground and who was not resisting arrest.
The video, taken during the charity Tour de Tech Terrace cycling event, depicts Hunter Temperton, a Texas Tech student, being pinned to the ground by two police officers. Even though Temperton is keeping still, an officer tasers him anyway.

The police, of course, claim that they did nothing wrong. They say that Temperton had not complied with the officers’ directives and needed to be restrained with the taser prior to being arrested.
Witnesses were clearly appalled, with one telling the the Daily Toreador that Temperton wasn’t resisting arrest and that “there was no need to taser him. He was already on the ground.”
Temperton is now facing charges of resisting arrest, evading arrest, failure to identify and public intoxication.
