yemen plane crashAn Airbus A310 passenger jet carrying 153 people has crashed into the Indian Ocean. The plane ran across some bad weather early Tuesday morning while attempting to land at the island nation of Comoros.

Remarkably, search teams have rescued a young boy from the sea. There is no word yet on whether or not there may be other survivors.

The plane was operated by Yemenia and was flying the final leg of a trip from Paris and Marseille to Comoros via Yemen. There were 66 French nationals aboard the flight.

The boy that was rescued was just 5 years old…the flight also carried at least three babies. The flight data recorder has not yet been located.

So far, five bodies have been retrieved along with debris from the plane.

Yemenia airline officials have stated that the 11-member crew was made up of six Yemenis, including the pilot, two Moroccans, one Indonesian, one Ethiopian and 1 Filipino. The officials have asked that their named not be released because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

This is the second Airbus to crash into the sea this month, following an Air France Airbus A330-200 that crashed into the Atlantic Ocean killing 228 people on board on June 1. A preliminary report on that crash is due on Thursday.
