There’s nothing like a social media disaster to make other similar companies stand up and take notice.

Following the media firestorm that was the “Domino’s Pizza incident,” Pizza Hut is now looking to hire a Twitter intern. All you have to do is head over to the Pizza Hut home page and you will find this listing: “Apply to be the first Pizza Hut Twintern.”

If you get the job, you’ll have to move to Dallas and foot the bill for it, but this could be your big break into social media.  I’m amazed at how many companies just don’t “get it” yet.  Pizza Hut obviously does, and they’re willing to pay to make social media work for them.

Here is the official job description:

The summer twinternship at Pizza Hut allows for many hands-on opportunities including:

  • Collect and share insights and experiences while working for Pizza Hut through social and interactive media: Blogs, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, New and emerging media
  • Twintern will be given unprecedented access to marketing meetings, brainstormsions, ad shoots and special events
Monitor social media for pop culture news, off-the-wall stories or anything else quirky and fun that he or she thinks would be of interest to loyal Pizza Hut fans.
  • Chronicle experience through video; edit and post to selected media
  • Conduct media outreach for PR programs
  • Assist with execution of national PR programs

We are now on the cutting edge of a new era in marketing. My only question is, hand-tossed, pan, or thin and crispy?
