Yes, it's true.
Steven Page, one of the lead singers of the Barenaked Ladies, has quit the group. Page plans to pursue solo projects. The Barenaked Ladies will continue to play together under the same name without Steven Page.
According to the band, the departure is by “mutual agreement”.
The band is about to begin recording a new album in April, then go on tour this fall.
“These guys are my brothers,” Page said in a statement. “We’ve grown up together over the past twenty years. I love them and wish them all the best in the future.”
“It’s the start of a new chapter for all of us. Here’s to the future!” added Ed Robertson, another one of the band’s main voices.
Steven Page was arrested in July 2008 on charges of drug possession. Police say they found Page with cocaine at a New York apartment.
