Pat Venditte is 23 years of age and he is baseball's only ambidextrous pitcher.

That's right. If a right-handed batter comes up to the plate, Venditte can put his glove on his right hand and pitch to him left-handed. If a left-handed batter comes to the plate, he can pitch to him right-handed.

He's even struck batters out by switching hands in mid-at-bat!

Venditte is now pitching regularly for the Charleston RiverDogs, the New York Yankees' Single-A club.

At one point last month, his ERA was 0.00 in 6 and 1/3 innings.

As Rick Reilly put it in a post today on his ESPN blog:

Last season, he had 23 saves for the Staten Island Yankees, with a 0.83 ERA. And best of all, the kid can relieve himself!

Can you imagine such a thing? If his right arm is tired, he can just turn around and pitch left-handed.

His special glove has six fingers and two webs so that he can turn himself around whenever necessary.

"I've got to remember to tell people which way he's throwing," says RiverDogs radio play-by-play man Danny Reed. "Never had to do that before."

Trust me, you've never seen anything like this. You'll be hearing a lot more about Paul Venditte.

Check out this amazing video from June 19, 2008. The game featured the Staten Island Yankees against Brooklyn Cyclones. Paul Venditte came on to close things out in the 9th inning when a batter on the opposing team thought he would get cute.
