Pamela Smart, the school teacher / seductress played by Nicole Kidman in the movie To Die For, has received an $23,875 payday from the state of New York.
Smart is currently serving a life sentence for recruiting her teenage lover to kill her husband.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert Sweet approved the settlement agreement on Monday to end Smart’s 2006 civil federal lawsuit against the State of New York.
Smart, who is doing time at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in New York, filed a lawsuit citing unfair treatment by prison guards and officials after racy photos of Smart in a jail cell were published by National Enquirer.
In the lawsuit, Smart alleged that after the photos ran in the Enquirer, she was forced to spend two months in a lockdown facility.
Smart, 42, also says that the photos were snapped by a prison guard who sexually assaulted her.
The New York attorney general’s office, along with Smart’s attorney Nicholas Booke, has been trying to settle this matter since December of 2008.
As part of the settlement, Pamela Smart will get $8,750 while her attorney will receive the rest for attorney fees.
