The man charged with firing two shots at the White House last week has been charged with attempting to assassinate President Barack Obama or a member of his staff.
He now faces a potential sentence of life in prison.
Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, will be whisked from federal court in Pittsburgh, PA to Washington, D.C. to face the charges filed against him.
The suspect will remain in federal custody until a magistrate in D.C. can determine whether or not should stay locked up until his trial on the charge.
Ortega-Hernandez, 21, merely said, “Yes, ma’am” when he was asked if he understood that he would be going back to Washington, D.C. to face assassination charges.
Ortega-Hernandez was reportedly obsessed with the date of 11-11-11 and was convinced that the world would end on that day (which was the day of the shooting).
He is also reportedly obsessed with President Obama, in the sense that he hates him, as well as Washington D.C. and the rest of society in general.
His mental health will certainly be a factor once this case goes to trial.
