The 2010 nominees for the 82nd Academy Awards were revealed earlier this morning from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California. The list of Oscar nominees was read by Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences along with actress Anne Hathaway.
It looks like James Cameron‘s epic saga “Avatar” and the Iraq thriller “The Hurt Locker” lead the Oscar nominations with nine nominations each, including Best Picture and Director for Cameron and ex-wife director Kathryn Bigelow.
In 2009, former Academy president Sid Ganis announced that there would be 10 Best Picture nominees in 2010 instead of just five.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin will be your co-hosts for 2010. This will be Martin’s third stint as host, while Baldwin will be hosting the gala for the first time.
It will be broadcast on Sunday, March 7, 2010 on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
