Evangelist Oral Roberts, who eventually founded a multimillion-dollar organization and has an Oklahoma university bearing his name, has died at the age of 91.
His spokesperson, A. Larry Ross, confirmed that Roberts died on Tuesday of complications from pneumonia in California. Roberts has been admitted to the hospital following a fall on Saturday. He had previously lived through two heart attacks in the ’90s as well as a broken hip back in 2006.
Roberts also defeated tuberculosis when he was just 17, and often credited that victory with inspiring him to evolve into one of the most renowned ministers in the United States.
Oral Roberts University, chartered in 1963, has become a landmark in Tulsa.
