As expected, swarms of protesters descended upon Washington D.C. today as part of the Occupy Congress demonstration, organized by the Occupy movement.
The large crowd gathered outside the Capitol for what participants said was the biggest gathering of Occupy activists from around the country in the 4-month history of the movement.
The hacktivist group known as Anonymous encouraged citizens to participate in today’s rally and protest capitalism and corporate greed, as well as the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), and the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allows the indefinite detention of American citizens without trial.
