Obama Teleprompter Crashes During Speech (Video)

A startling moment in the White House this afternoon...midway through President Obama's speech on urban and metropolitan policy in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, his teleprompter, often referred to as TOTUS, came crashing down.

The teleprompter hit the wooden floor and shattered into millions of pieces, causing quite a commotion.

"Oh, goodness," a startled President Obama said. "Sorry about that, guys."

He then went on with his speech, "To pull our economy back from the brink, including the largest and most sweeping economic recovery plan in our nation's history…"

For the remainder of his speech, Obama relied on the one remaining teleprompter to his right, along with a few notes on his podium to finish off the speech.

Shards of glass remained near the president’s feet for the duration of his speech.
