A White House official has tendered his resignation after owning up to last month’s Air Force One flyover in New York. The flight was said to be a good “photo opp” at the time.
Louis Caldera, who had worked under Bill Clinton, apologized for the distraction that the NYC flyover caused. He wrote in a brief letter to President Obama on Friday that it “has made it impossible for me to effectively lead the White House Military Office.”
Back on April 27, Air Force One flew right over the New York City skyline, trailed closely by two fighter jets.
It was a photo opportunity approved by several government officials. The project turned sour, however, when citizens panicked and called 911 to report the flyover, fearing the recurrence of a 9/11-type event.
