UPDATE: NORAD Santa Tracker 2010: What’s New This Year?

The official NORAD Santa website is now showing a countdown clock ticking off the minutes until Santa’s legendary flight begins.  According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), they start to track Santa and his magical reindeer (including Rudolph) as soon as they take off from the North Pole.

They utilize four high-tech systems to track Santa: radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets.

Fortunately, Rudolph’s shiny nose also helps to track Santa as it gives off a bright infrared heat signature that the satellites can track very easily.
