Where is Santa right now? Time to find out!
It's that magical time of year! The NORAD Santa Tracker 2009 is back up again this year to help you track Santa's voyage around the world on Christmas Eve.
We had a lot of fun covering this last year and now it's time for the 2009 edition.
6 Ways to Connect with Santa Online This Christmas
You can help your kids keep track of where Santa is at all times as he makes his way to the homes of good little girls and boys. It's a handy little tool if you want to know how Santa really works.
The official NORAD Santa website is now tracking Santa's jouney. According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), they began tracking Santa and his magical reindeer (including Rudolph) as soon as they take off from the North Pole.
They utilize four high-tech systems to track Santa: radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets.
Fortunately, Rudolph's shiny nose also helps to track Santa as it gives off a bright infrared heat signature that the satellites can track very easily.
You can track him with Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Mobile, on Twitter and can also view videos of his flights over several landmark cities, captured by special Santa Cams.
The Santa Cams are high-speed digital cameras, strategically placed across the globe. They capture images of Santa and his reindeer as they travel.
Canadian NORAD fighter pilots fly the CF-18 intercept and welcome Santa into North America. In the United States, American NORAD fighter pilots in either the F-15 or the F-16 get the honor of escorting Santa and his crew of famous reindeer
NORAD has been tracking Santa for over 50 years so make use of this state-of-the-art tracking system on Christmas Eve.
