First it was chimp cartoons, now this.
Dean Grose, the Republican mayor of Los Alamitos, California, is in a heap of trouble this afternoon after sending out the above White House watermelon photo via his personal e-mail account. Grose superimposed a watermelon patch in front of the White House and along with a caption that read “No Easter Egg Hunt This Year.”
After charges of racism, Grose has announced he will resign.
It’s hard to imagine the thought process behind sending out an e-mail like this. At first glance, the headline of “No Easter Egg Hunt This Year” seems harmless enough, but upon further inspection, one realizes that the level of racism in America is really quite alarming.
Unfortunately, I’m sure this isn’t the last that we’ll hear of incidents like this.
