Terrafugia Transition Flying CarRemember the Terrafugia Transition?  It’s that flying car we told you about last summer that had just gotten approval from the FAA.

Well now the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has approved the Transition for use on roads and highways, bringing the flying car one step closer to everyday use.

On June 30, the NHTSA granted special exemptions for the “roadable aircraft,” according to Terrafugia’s press release (below).

The Terrafugia Transition is the “first combined flying-driving vehicle to receive such special consideration from the Department of Transportation since the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards came into being in the 1970s.”
