Well, well, well. Looks who’s back in town.
The New Orleans Saints have re-signed the veteran running back they let go last year, presumably as an insurance policy for this weekend’s playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals.
Deuce McAllister, who was out of the NFL for the entire 2009 season, is back with the Saints organization.
McAllister hasn’t appeared in a professional football game since 2008 when he played in 13 games for the Saints. The team let him go back in February but Deuce did say at the time that he still felt the “itch to play.”
Current Saints running back Pierre Thomas has been dealing with a rib injury all week during practices so I guess the team is just playing it safe. They still expect Thomas to play.
McAllister could give the team an emotional boost as the Saints begin their playoff run on Saturday against the Cardinals. Looks like Deuce is once again on the loose!
As for us, we’ll be busy watching our Baltimore Ravens beat up on the hapless Indianapolis Colts (hey, we can dream, can’t we?).
