Fail Nation: A Visual Romp Through the World of Epic Fails.

Trent Reznor

As Trent Reznor was haning out backstage one hot day last summer, he started messing with his iPhone.

Suddenly he had a startling revelation.  He realized that Nine Inch Nails fans were sending pictures from the scene with their iPhones.

Reznor then began using Twinkle, the very same Twitter application that fans were using, to send his own pictures from backstage.  As the beer commercial goes - "Brilliant!"

"We started thinking, 'Hey, this could be pretty cool,'" Reznor says.

In just a couple of days, the hellacool results should be live on Apple's App Store.

The free Nine Inch Nails iPhone application will be live as soon as Apple approves it (UPDATE: it's now live here nin: access).  It's truly an app for everything that is Nine Inch Nails, including songs, pictures, video clips, message boards, and even - thanks to a GPS-enabled feature called Nearby - the fans.

Here is a preview clip of Reznor discussing the app...
