ivo josipovicCroatia’s new president has a Facebook problem.  It seems the newly elected leader can’t add any more friends to his account.

Ivo Josipovic already has 5,000 friends, which is the social network’s friend limit for personal profiles.

“I have 5,000 friends, which is the maximum allowed on Facebook. I also have another 7,000 waiting so I don’t know how we’ll work that out,” the president and classical music composer said on state radio on Tuesday.

Josipovic got 60 percent of the votes cast on Sunday, beating opponent Milan Bandic, who was supported by the church and the conservatives.

He will become Croatia’s third president since its independence from Yugoslavia back in 1991.

After he moves into the presidential palace in February, Josipovic plans to complete an opera inspired by John Lennon. The opera should premiere during an annual classical music festival in 2011.

There is no word on whether or not Facebook will allow an exception for the new president.  Why doesn’t someone tell him that he should just create a “fan page”?
