Will Detroit Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh be fined? Suspended? Both?
The Cleveland Browns certainly believe he deserves one or both of these penalties after putting a vicious his on quarterback Jake Delhomme.
The NFL is already reviewing the play from Saturday’s exhibition game in Detroit to determine what, if any, punishment to hand to Suh.
During the second quarter, Delhomme was scrambling out of the pocket when Suh, the number 2 pick in April’s NFL draft, grabbed Delhomme’s facemask, twisted his neck around and flung the the 35-year-old QB to the ground.
Delhomme immediately began waving his arms and shouting at the officials. Suh was hit with a 15-yard penalty for the play, but truthfully, I’m surprised he wasn’t ejected.
This play is hard to watch, whether it’s in real-time or slow-motion.
“I was just going after the ball, and I had no clue that he had gotten rid of it,” says Suh. “I don’t know what to expect from the league. I’ve gotten personal fouls before, but that was in college, and they can’t fine you there.”
The play is currently being reviewed by the NFL, according to league spokesman Gregg Aiello.
What do you think? Should Suh be fined or suspended for trying to remove Delhomme’s head?
