A New York City cab driver from Bangladesh went above and beyond the call of duty to find someone who left several thousand dollars in cash in his back seat.
Mukul Asaduzzaman, a med student, drove almost 50 miles to find an address that he says was with the cash. When no one was home, he left his phone number.
Turns out the cash belonged to an Italian grandmother who was visiting the United States.
Felicia Lettieri and six of her relatives had taken two taxi cabs on Christmas Eve. Lettieri, 72, left accidentally left her purse in the cab, along with more than $21,000 in cash, jewelry, and some passports.
Her sister, Francesca Lettieri, 79, of Long Island, NY, says the honesty of the taxi driver saved her family’s vacation.
“We really love what he did,” she said.
Asaduzzaman was offered a reward, but as a devout Muslim he could not accept it.
Let’s hear it for honest cab drivers! There really ARE some out there!
