53-year-old Rachel Wilder has put a GPS device on her son. How old is he, you may ask?
Five? Seven? Ten? No, Harry Wilder is nineteen years old is about to begin a business management course at Oxford Brookes University in England.
He is also about to take a long trip to Australia, Thailand, and South Africa. He is Australia at this moment...along with his Traakit, which allows lets mommy dearest pinpoint his location to within 15 feet.
"I can tell which street he is in so I can make sure he doesn't wander into any dangerous areas," Mrs. Wilder told the Telegraph.
"I have no way of knowing if a street in Australia is dangerous but if he was in Bangkok, for example, I could see if he walks in an area which might not be safe and ring or text him," Mrs. Wilder insisted.
Boy oh boy, moms will be moms I suppose.
The 2-inch-thick Traakit device was created by Harry's uncle David Clayton, 65, who released it on the internet about 14 days ago.
It will track David's position by readings coordinates from 4 different satellites which feeds the information back to a computer.
So is all this attention just a nice little publicity stunt? Possibly.
Harry doesn't seem to mind, though.
"Not that it's happened yet, but if I didn't want mum to know where I was going I can always leave the thing in the car," he said.
I like a kid who isn't afraid to think outside of the box.
