You know what makes for a nice family outing? Robbing a bank.
An Illinois mother stands accused of bringing her five-year-old son with her on a bank robbery expedition led by her boyfriend.
Brandon Stancliff allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife and grabbed a bandana as a disguise while Lauri Ruble strapped her little boy into a car seat before heading to Wauconda Community Bank in Island Lake last month.
Ruble then went into the bank asking whether there was a coin-counting machine – a ploy to learn how many tellers were there, according to an FBI affidavit. When she returned, Stancliff went in for the robbery. Authorities say he stole close to $5,000.
Child welfare officials are now investigating the crime and trying to determine what should be done with the boy.
The two were arrested on December 30. Ruble, 30, has bonded out of jail while Stancliff remains behind bars at this hour.
