Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih, has just been crowned Miss USA 2010.
Last year’s winner Kristen Dalton surrendered the crown tonight and Fakih, a 24-year-old Arab American immigrant, is now prepared to take on the task of traveling the globe.
UPDATE 2: Rima’s been busted for DUI
The 51 contestants were quickly narrowed down to the final five, which consisted of Miss Michigan, Miss Virginia, Miss Maine, Miss Colorado and Miss Oklahoma.
Not only did Fakih recovery from a small stumble during the evening gown competition, but she also gave props to her mother and to her director during her interview. She was the only contestant to do this.
Fakih said she thought she had the title won on Sunday after looking over at pageant owner Donald Trump while she waited for the results with this year’s first runner-up, Miss Oklahoma USA Morgan Elizabeth Woolard.
“That’s the same look that he gives them when he says, ‘You’re hired,’” on Trump’s reality show The Apprentice,” she said.
“She’s a great girl,” said Trump, who owns the pageant along with NBC in a joint venture.
When asked how she felt about winning the crown, Rima replied “Ask me after I eat a pizza.”
