What was Miley Cyrus thinking? OK, I know that the pressures of being a teen idol are hard to deal with and all of that.
Still, does that justify getting together with a bunch of your friends and stretching your eyes back (a common gesture used to mock Asian people)?
They might as well have just put on the black face-paint and sung “The Camptown Ladies”.
According to Karen Narasaki, president of the director for the Asian American Justice Center quoted at Celebuzz: “It’s hard to imagine the context where this would be okay. It’s offensive and disappointing. She’ such a role model for young women.”
Sigh. At least she wasn’t smoking a bong…
