F My Life: It's Funny, It's True, Except When It Happens to You
Microsoft has released Microsoft Vine into private beta. Microsoft Vine is a hyper-local social media tool intended to keep family and friends connected with one another.
Here is closer look at what Microsoft Vine offers:
Send and receive alerts. Organize people into groups - the sports team you coach, people who live nearby, family far away, special friends, and emergency contacts…Check in safe and well to let your family know you are okay, let trusted neighbors know you’re headed out of town, keep people informed of situations that matter, or share general information like the team practice schedule for the week.
Microsoft Vice has the ability to collect local news from 20,000 local and national news sources, plus public safety announcements from the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). You can then filter out certain types of news if you wish.
Vine can also provide you with status updates from Facebook for close friends and family. Twitter and other social network news feeds will also be added eventually.
At this point, Microsoft Vine is mostly an experiment. Of course, that's how Twitter got its start as well.
