Microsoft is launching an interesting new campaign.  The company is offering free domain names and 12 months of hosting.

The new deal is part of the Microsoft Office Live Basics campaign. If you sign up, you get a domain of your choice and hosting for one year. The plan includes 500MB of storage and up to 100 e-mail addresses. You also get a few business management tools and site development utilities.

Technically, this offer is for small businesses, but there's really nothing stopping you from using the account however you like. Microsoft will then offer paid upgrades (what did you expect) along with the free stuff, but you don't have to accept it.

After a year, Microsoft will charge you $14.95 a year for the hosting, if you choose to keep your site on its servers.

Now you have no excuse for not getting that first website up and running!
