michelle obama an american story

South Carolina Republican Party activist Rusty DePass finds himself in deep trouble after referring to an escaped gorilla at a South Carolina zoo as an “ancestor” of First Lady Michelle Obama.  Even better, he posted the comment on Facebook for the world to see.

Nice.

Here’s what happened.  Trey Walker, who is an advisor to South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster, posted a Facebook update about the escape of a Western Lowlands Gorilla from Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo.

Walker’s update was then commented on by former State Senate candidate, Rusty DePass.

“I’m sure it’s just one of Michelle’s ancestors — probably harmless,” DePass wrote.

Here is a picture of the now-removed comment…

michelle obama gorilla comment

Let’s get real here.  These are the people who are supposed to represent the very best that these United States have to offer, and we get comments poking fun at the First Lady as though she were descended from gorillas?

This is a racist and offensive comment…and I even tend to lean to the right.

Hey, maybe he’d like to offer her some Drunken Negro Head Cookies while he’s at it.

On the lighter side of this story, how did Michelle Obama respond to the gorilla comment?

“It’s not his fault he lives in the most ass-backwards state in America. My husband and I went to Harvard,” Michelle Obama said. “I bet most of the mouth breathers in this state can’t even spell Harvard.”

Well, at least the cartoon version of Michelle Obama said that in the following hilarious mock interview from the folks over at FITS Makes News.  Enjoy…
