It seems The Roots got a not-so-subtle jab in at GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann when she dropped by for a chat on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
As host Jimmy Fallon introduced Bachmann to the audience, The Roots (Fallon’s house band) began playing the Fishbone song “Lyin’ Ass Bitch”.
Now, Bachmann is demanding an apology and calls the song sexist and a sign of Hollywood bias.
“I think the point is,” she told the Fox News program America’s Newsroom, “if that had been Michelle Obama who had come out on the stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they could have fired the drummer, at least suspended him, none of that happened from NBC and this is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite but it’s also I think it’s sexism as well.”
Jimmy Fallon has apologized for the song, posting to Twitter on on Tuesday night:
“I’m honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I’m so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back.”
Before the show, the band’s drummer, Questlove tweeted:
“aight late night walkon song devotees: you love it when we snark: this next one takes the cake. ask around cause i aint tweeting title.”
For her part, Bachmann seems to have forgiven Fallon for the slap.
“I am hoping to be able to speak to Jimmy Fallon today,” she said. “I don’t have anything against Jimmy Fallon, I love him, he’s a kick, it was a great opportunity to be on the show, I’d love to go back again.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Fallon had tweeted:
“@questlove is grounded.”
