Michael Phelps has joined the ranks of Martelus Bennett and fellow Baltimorean Nasty Nestor in needing a little marketing and P.R. help this weekend.
Pictures of the U.S. Olympic swimming hero smoking from a bong have appeared in the UK tabloid News of the World, who go on to state that, due to “four-year bans for drug-taking, Phelps’ dreams of adding to his overall 14 gold medal tally at the 2012 games in London could already be OVER.”
The pics were supposedly taken in November of last year. Neither the U.S. Olympic and swimming bodies, nor Phelps’ agent has commented on the photographs as of yet, although News of the World claims that Phelps’ representatives tried to offer the paper certain “incentives” in exchange for not publishing the picture.
Smoke ‘em if ya’ got ‘em.
