The American Idol Season 9 Top 8 guys took the stage last night for a spot in the final 12.
Michael Lynche (A.K.A. “Big Mike”) turned in one of the greatest Idol performances of all time with his rendition of Maxwell‘s version of Kate Bush‘s “This Woman’s Work”.
It was easily the best performance of the evening. Ellen DeGeneres said that Big Mike is the one to beat. Kara DioGuardi was in tears (in tears, people!) and could hardly speak because it was so good. Simon Cowell said they needed a performance like that after a fairly boring show.
I would have to agree. Up until that point it had mainly been a bunch of average-looking guys singing average-sounding songs and they all had been playing the guitar. YAWN!
This performance lit up the stage, though.
You can check it out below. What did you think of Michael Lynche’s performance?
