New Michael Jackson Single, “This Is It”, Coming October 12

The first single in what is sure to be a long series of posthumous releases for Michael Jackson, "This Is It", is scheduled to be released on October 12th.

Sony is giving very few details about the single, except to say that Jackson's brothers are featured on the backing vocals. Two weeks following the release of the single, Sony will release a two-disc set to coincide with the release of a movie depicting the King of Pop rehearsing for This Is It tour in London concerts. Jackson died before the beginning of the tour.

The first disc will highlight some of Michael's biggest hits, including two different versions of the new single '"This Is It".

Michael's website states, "This song is featured in the film's closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael's brothers, The Jacksons.

"Disc two offers previously unreleased versions of some of the artist’s classic tracks. This disc also features a touching spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled ‘Planet Earth’ that has never been heard before."

The new album will hit the shelves internationally on October 26 and in North America on October 27.

The "This Is It" movie will then debut worldwide on October 28, with a series of exclusive world premieres occurring at the same time in cities around the world.
