In a new interview with TMZ, Yeardley Smith, the actress who does the voice of Lisa Simpson on The Simpsons, revealed that Sony would not permit Michael Jackson to sing in the episode where he voiced mental patient Leon Kompowsky.
Instead, Jackson himself picked an impersonator, Kipp Lennon. The character’s name, Leon Kompowsky, is actually a clever nod to Kipp.
If you are a die-hard fan, you may have caught this in the commentary to the DVD set years ago, but for some of us, this is quite a shock to the system.
